Webinar: How IDIoTs Are the Future of Secure Identification

SIA Webinars

August 27, 2019

In 2018, consumers downloaded 205.4 billion mobile apps worldwide, and the average smartphone user utilized nine apps per day. Between navigation, music streaming, games, news and other apps, each person establishes a unique digital identity in the Internet of Things – a world line of sorts that may be called an IDIoT.

These IDIoTs have the potential to serve as an extra layer of authentication and security for physical access control systems (PACS) via the identification of anomalies in digital behaviors, similar to the way banks flag potentially fraudulent purchases.

With sensors, machine-to-machine devices, artificial intelligence, blockchain technology and other tools, PACS can leverage app utilization to distinguish between legitimate users and bad actors. This can lead to more passive solutions and systems that can securely authenticate a user as he or she moves from one mobile app to another on the way to a secured entry point.
