Critical NFPA Vote in Chicago

Security Industry Association (SIA)

Attention alarm and monitoring stakeholders!

Frequently, important issues arise in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) revision process that require an organized industry response. We have one such case coming up later this month!

In June, two motions will be considered for NFPA 72, The National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code, at the NFPA meeting in Chicago, which will impact the alarm industry with potential trickle down effects to the broader electronic security industry.

The Security Industry Association (SIA) is working with other industry organizations to educate and mobilize the industry on two motions within the NFPA Technical Meeting on June 25, 2015, in Chicago. If the proposed motions pass, numerous private alarm monitoring companies and central stations could be denied approval as a recognized remote station, regardless of their listing.

Please click here for more information on the motions and how you can support the industry with your vote.

Our thanks to the Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA) for mobilizing the security industry in this effort.
