SIA New Member Profile: HSI Sensing

Security Industry Association (SIA)

The Security Industry Association (SIA) is pleased to welcome aboard HSI Sensing, Chickasha, Oklahoma, as a new SIA Member! We caught up with Travis Posey, HSI Sensing Vice President of Business Development, to learn more about the sensor manufacturer. Are you at ISC West? Visit HSI Sensing at Booth 047. Or visit the company’s website at http://www.hsisensing.com.

How did you get into the security industry?

We have been supplying products to the security industry for over 30 years. We are a reed switch and proximity sensor manufacturer, and some of our first sensors were for the security industry monitoring entry and exit points. Since then, we have diversified into the medical implantable, aerospace, automation and controls, and oil and gas industries.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

Being in business development, I really enjoy getting to work hand in hand with our engineering staff here in Oklahoma as they continue to develop new and innovative products. Then getting to share our new technology with others in the industry, making their overall package solutions better, is the icing on the cake.

What’s your company’s biggest challenge right now?

One of the biggest challenges we have faced over the past 15 years being an American manufacturer is a stiff competition of foreign-made products. This led to a significant decline in security industry sales. To combat this, we have innovated solutions like our new Sentinel High-Security Sensor line. We are using new programmable hall sensor technology to achieve a tamper-resistant UL 634 Level 2 certified entry point sensor.

Will your company participate in an upcoming event with SIA such as ISC West, New Product Showcase or Government Summit? If so, what aspect of the event appeals most to your company?

We do plan to be more active. We registered our new product for SIA New Product Showcase at ISC West, and we have a booth there. Our CEO wants to be more active with events and meetings outside of tradeshow so plan to see more of us soon!
