Security Industry Association Names Erica McCann as Chair of SIA Government Relations Committee

Erica McCann of Amazon will lead the committee’s efforts to advise SIA members regarding policy affecting the security industry and make recommendations.

SILVER SPRING, Md.— The Security Industry Association (SIA) has named Erica McCann as chair of the SIA Government Relations Committee—an expert-led group that helps identify and advise SIA members regarding legislation, regulations and other policy trends or pending government actions affecting the security industry and makes high-level recommendations for related actions.

The SIA Government Relations Committee’s efforts include guidance and advocacy on behalf of SIA members; the creation of publications and tools related to legislation, regulations and security grants; advocacy initiatives around tax reform, procurement policy, school security, regulatory relief and state policy; and the management of the influential Security PAC political action committee.

Erica McCann is the head of devices, advertising and cybersecurity public policy at Amazon, where she has led strategic advocacy initiatives at the federal, state and local levels since 2016. In this role, she advances policy outcomes that benefit both consumers and enterprise customers across critical technology sectors. Prior to her work at Amazon, McCann directed procurement policy and information technology modernization advocacy at several trade associations. Her contributions to the industry have been recognized with the SIA Industry Advocate Award and the Federal Computer Week Rising Star Award, and her team’s policy work with SIA has contributed to Amazon’s being named a 2026 SIA Member of the Year. McCann holds a degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and resides in Washington, D.C.
