Provided to SIA members as a review of current market conditions, the May 2019 Security Market Index (SMI) shows that confidence in the security industry is bouncing back after a dip in March. After an index of 60 in March following a high of 65 reported for both January 2019 and November 2018, confidence in the industry seems to be on the up and up once more with a SMI of 63. Special focuses of the May 2019 SMI include:
- Increased video sales despite slight decreases in confidence
- Climbing security systems integrator confidence
- A growing security consultant sector SMI
- Artificial intelligence's expected impact on the industry
