Security Industry Association to Present Larry Folsom With Jay Hauhn Excellence in Partnerships Award

I-View Now President to Be Honored for Leadership in Industry Collaboration at 2018 SIA Honors Night

SILVER SPRING, Md. – The Security Industry Association (SIA) has named Larry Folsom – co-founder and president of I-View Now, a cloud-based central station video verification company – as the 2018 recipient of the Jay Hauhn Excellence in Partnerships Award, an honor recognizing a leader who embodies a spirit of collaboration in the security industry. The award will be presented to Folsom during SIA Honors Night on Wednesday, Nov. 14, in New York City.

The Jay Hauhn Excellence in Partnerships Award is named in honor of Jay Hauhn. During his tenure as SIA’s chairman of the board, Hauhn demonstrated a steadfast commitment to fostering collaboration among industry trade associations.

Folsom is a security industry veteran with more than 15 years of experience in the field. He served as president of the Partnership for Priority Verified Alarm Response (PPVAR) – which works to educate security stakeholders about the value of video and other technologies in verifying alarm activity during the dispatch process, reduce the prevalence of false alarms and grow apprehension rates for burglar alarm users – from 2016 to 2018.

Through his liaison work, particularly with the law enforcement community, Folsom’s contributions have proven valuable to SIA members thanks to the generation of open dialogue between public safety leaders and monitoring firms – with positive outcomes in ordinance and policy development.

“I am deeply humbled and honored to be recognized with SIA’s Jay Hauhn Excellence in Partnerships Award. Jay epitomizes what true collaboration can achieve for our industry. He has been an inspiration to me to also work to unify technologies, foster stronger industry alliances and partner with law enforcement to achieve mutual goals,” said Folsom. “I am proud to be part of an industry whose focus is making our communities safer.”

In their award submissions, nominators praised Folsom for advancing PPVAR’s mission, leading the development of a first-of-its-kind police-created document on how police interact with systems using video technology and broadening the scope of PPVAR to be about more than just video and foster any technologies that result in an alarm event that truly warrants the need for police response. Folsom was also recognized for leading coordination between PPVAR and The Monitoring Association to ensure alignment between the two organizations and establish best practices for central station operations in pursuing verified alarms and always being cooperative and collaborative and keeping an open mind.

“SIA is proud to present Larry Folsom with the Jay Hauhn Excellence in Partnerships Award. Larry embodies collaboration and everything the award is about,” said SIA Chairman of the Board Scott Schafer. “In particular, during his time at PPVAR Larry helped the organization address challenges in balancing its mission and concerns about existing customers. His patience, determination, open mind and cooperative spirit have resulted in many positive contributions to video and alarm verification and the larger security industry, and we look forward to seeing his many more accomplishments to come.”
