Call for Volunteers: SIA Standards and Technology Committees, Advisory Boards and Working Groups

Are you passionate about the security industry? Do you want to help the Security Industry Association (SIA) enhance its efforts around key standards and technology topics? SIA is seeking new members for its standards and technology advisory boards, committees and working groups. Learn more about these opportunities here, and join us for one of our upcoming meetings!

SIA’s Standards Committee Chair Peter Boriskin shares an update on the committee’s goals for 2024 and how you can be part of this community through collaborative projects that create security industry standards and guidance in technical aspects of applying security technology.

Built Environment Advisory Board

The SIA Built Environment Advisory Board, formerly known as the SIA Proptech Advisory Board, was established to enhance collaboration between the proptech community and the global security industry through partnerships, education and thought leadership. This is an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact in these rapidly evolving fields.

The next virtual meeting of the Built Environment Advisory Board is on Monday, July 1, 2024, from 1-2 p.m. EDT.

Cybersecurity Advisory Board

The SIA Cybersecurity Advisory Board, composed of industry cybersecurity experts, is dedicated to guiding SIA members through potential cybersecurity issues in electronic physical security. We provide strategic guidance and advocate for robust cybersecurity solutions, helping our members navigate challenges related to the Internet of Things and secure networked devices.

The next virtual advisory board meeting is on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, from 3-4 p.m. EDT.

Audio and Intelligent Communications Subcommittee

We are seeking volunteers from SIA’s membership to join our mission to educate the industry on the importance of audio and communications. Our goal with the Audio and Intelligent Communications Subcommittee is to help grow this technology segment by providing valuable business insights into the role of audio in safety and security applications.

SIA Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP) Technical Subcommittee

Are you an access control manufacturer, integrator, or end user with experience in OSDP?  We need your expertise!

The SIA OSDP Technical Subcommittee is looking for volunteers to help shape the future of OSDP.  

The next virtual subcommittee meeting is on Thursday, July 18, 2024, from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. EDT.

Video and Vision Subcommittee

Are you in the video security industry? The SIA Video and Vision Subcommittee needs you!

We review, develop and promote industrywide video standards for security and intelligent video solutions. Our scope includes both domestic and international standards.

The next subcommittee meeting is on Monday, July 22, 2024, from 1-2 p.m. EDT.

Architectural Graphics Working Group

Are you familiar with building information modeling and its applications, particularly with Autodesk’s AutoCAD and Revit, concerning physical security systems layouts? Your expertise is invaluable to us!

Join the AG-01 update initiative and contribute to the modernization of architectural graphics for security. Your skills will aid architects, contractors, and security professionals in creating precise construction and system layout drawings. Become a part of SIA’s Architectural Graphics Working Group and shape the future of security standards.
