• Attention members: It’s your last chance to save on registration for Securing New Ground (SNG) 2024! Save $150 on your ticket to SNG, the security industry’s executive conference (Oct. 8-9 in New York City) Don’t wait; early bird rates end Aug. 9!
• New resource from SIA’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Advisory Board! ESG Advisory Board Chair Renee Thompson examines the importance of greenhouse gas accounting, the benefits of reporting to CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project) and how companies can best navigate this process.

• Howdy, partners! Time is running out to participate in the SIA Roster Roundup! By connecting your employees with SIA, you can give your team the opportunity to take advantage of all the amazing things SIA membership has to offer. Plus, we’re giving out rewards for the best “rustlers” who bring in the most new employees to SIA! • New blog from SIA’s government relations team! On Aug. 2, 2024, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed a major Biometric Information Privacy Act reform into law. In this piece from George Sewell, learn key considerations and implications for security industry companies regarding the new proposal.

• The SIA Audio & Intelligent Communications Subcommittee is proud to present the first in a series of video conversations highlighting key topics in the Safe and Sound primer on audio and intelligent communications applications for security. In this video conversation, hosted by SIA’s Adom Yusuf and featuring Derek van der Vorst, CEO of Sound Intelligence Inc., and Tom Reilly, president of Commend Inc., examine how conversational artificial intelligence is revolutionizing security and communications.
• SIA has expanded the Identity and Biometric Technology Advisory Board (IBTAB) to include the group formerly known as the SIA Facial Recognition Working Group and all its members and has appointed Austin Park, director of technology at NEC National Security Systems, to serve as the advisory board’s new chair. • New video from SIA, featuring an enriching conversation with William P. Montanaro, CEO of the Federal Enforcement Homeland Security Foundation (FEHSF)! SIA member Min Kyriannis speaks with Montanaro about the FEHSF’s work to aid federal law enforcement officers’ families in their times of need, his heartbreaking personal story and his relationship with the organization and how SIA members and the industry can support these important efforts.
• Aug. 15, join us virtually for the next Vertical Insights symposium on data center security! Hear from practitioners, solutions providers and more about the top physical security and cybersecurity challenges facing data centers, as well as solutions and best practices to address them.

• On Aug. 22, the SIA National Capital Region Security Forum is hosting two can’t-miss events in the D.C. area: the Identity and Biometrics Symposium, held in partnership with the SIA IBTAB and featuring insights from government experts and exploring key issues in biometrics and identity, and a free networking happy hour at Leidos’ headquarters in Reston, Virginia.
