SILVER SPRING, Md.—The Security Industry Association (SIA) has named Daniël Reichman and Mark Schreiber as the 2026 recipients of the Sandy Jones Volunteer of the Year Award. SIA will present Reichman and Schreiber with the award at The Advance, SIA’s annual membership meeting, which will be held March 24 during ISC West.

Daniël Reichman, Ph.D., is the CEO and chief scientist of Ai-RGUS, an artificial intelligence startup spun out of Duke University. After receiving his Ph.D. at age 25, he founded Ai-RGUS. With over 24 university publications, Reichman obtained his doctorate in electrical and computer engineering from Duke University in a program fully funded by the US Army Research Office. Before attending Duke, he graduated from the fully funded program at The Cooper Union in New York City, with his master’s and bachelor’s degrees in electrical engineering and a minor in mathematics. Over the years, Reichman has successfully completed consulting projects including the development of software to assist reading more than 10,000 pages that needed to be summarized for a book. His passion is to develop algorithms to improve quality of life by automating routine tasks.

Reichman serves as a member of SIA’s Artificial Intelligence Advisory Board, which engages regulators on emerging AI issues and provides guidance on the safe, responsible and effective use of AI in security solutions. He has contributed to the development of SIA’s Glossary of AI Terms in Security Solutions and Guide to AI Uses Cases in Security and authored articles for All Things AI, a monthly newsletter on AI-related topics. Reichman has been an active participant and speaker at ISC West, his company has participated and received a 2023 award in the SIA New Products and Solutions Awards at ISC West and he is an active member of the SIA Startups in Security community.

“I am both honored and humbled to receive the SIA Sandy Jones Volunteer of the Year Award given the magnitude of talented individuals I’ve had the pleasure of working with on the AI Advisory Board,” said Reichman. “The work we are collectively doing to further educate our peers on the power of AI is most important during what we believe is the infancy of this revolutionary technology, not just on our industry but on society as a whole. I look forward to what lies ahead as we further embrace and harness the potential of AI to create a safer and more secure world.”

Mark Schreiber, CPP, CPD, is the principal consultant at Safeguards Consulting, a security design and consulting firm in Greenville, South Carolina. Schreiber’s security career has spanned almost 30 years in design and consulting roles within the engineering and construction industry. For the majority of this time, he has been directly responsible for the complete design of large enterprise physical security systems from conception to design completion and oversight. Schreiber regularly speaks and provides training for the security industry and gives presentations at a variety of events through various industry associations, including ISC West and ISC East. He is also a dedicated volunteer for the industry and is a director of the International Association of Professional Security Consultants (IAPSC), a director of the US CPTED Association and a member of several industry association committees and working groups. He holds a degree in electrical engineering technology and numerous training certifications for a wide range of systems and equipment.

Schreiber, a longtime dedicated SIA member, is a member of the Voice of the Industry (VOI) steering committee for Security Practitioners Advancing Real Conversations (SPARC), SIA’s technical end user forum. SPARC is SIA’s membership sector for security practitioners and practitioner teams, and the Voice of the Industry committee provides industry input to this group of security practitioners upon request and is designed to provide supplier/vendor/solution provider expertise in a vendor-neutral manner. Schreiber’s contributions on the VOI committee include serving as primary author on the SPARC Intelligence Report offering guidance for evaluating AI vendors and service providers. He has served on SIA’s Learning and Development Committee, Video and Vision Subcommittee, Utilities Advisory Board, Drone Security Subcommittee and Autonomous Solutions Working Group and engaged in the partnership between SIA and IAPSC to promote collaboration, content generation and knowledge sharing and elevate awareness of the security consultant profession.

“I am greatly honored by this award, and I have been impressed by the camaraderie among fellow SIA volunteers as well as the support of SIA staff,” said Schreiber. “The efforts of SIA to support positive changes in the industry have been impressive, and I feel that my contributions on behalf of IAPSC and other volunteer efforts were constructive and worthy of my time as a volunteer. I encourage all professionals to volunteer a portion of their time to reinvest in the industry and help lift all ships in our impactful industry.”

“SIA is honored to recognize Daniël Reichman and Mark Schreiber as the 2026 Sandy Jones Volunteers of the Year,” said SIA CEO Don Erickson. “Daniël and Mark have demonstrated exceptional engagement within SIA in ways that greatly benefit our members and the industry, including Daniël sharing his great expertise on AI and innovation through his active involvement in SIA’s AI Advisory Board, ISC West and the Startups in Security community and Mark contributing his robust knowledge to SPARC’s intelligence reports and efforts around learning and development, drones, video, utilities and more.
