Credential Design Working Group

The Security Industry Association (SIA) Credential Design Working Group was established in 2025 under the Standards Committee to develop and standardize best practices for the design, security features, protocols, standards and usability of corporate identification and access credentials. The group’s initial focus is on physical credentials, with the eventual goal of expanding to mobile credentials. The working group aims to create a general alignment on corporate ID credentials.

This is a new initiative to develop practical guidelines for secure, user-friendly enterprise identification and access credentials. This working group’s mission is to enhance security, improve user experience and establish clear guidelines ensuring credential systems’ integrity and functionality across industries. By developing clear standards and fostering industry collaboration, the group will enhance security, streamline implementation and ensure that organizations can effectively safeguard their assets and data.
