About the Advisory Board
The SIA Utilities Advisory Board was created to provide resources that enhance the security and resilience of utility infrastructure, including electric, water, nuclear and other critical utility systems, particularly through the effective use of physical security and cybersecurity technologies. The advisory board brings together manufacturers, integrators, consultants, practitioners and other stakeholders to develop analysis, recommendations and forward-looking guidance addressing the unique physical and cyber risks facing the utility sector.
Throughout the year, the SIA Utilities Advisory Board will work to:
- Ensure alignment with industry standards and emerging trends while supporting SIA membership updates in accordance with applicable regulations and deliver summarized reports
- Foster strategic collaboration on joint projects with SIA’s advisory boards and committees on artificial intelligence, data center security, cybersecurity and drone security
- Expand representation of end users and international stakeholders to ensure global relevance and practical applicability
- Incorporate a broader range of insights and real‑world case studies from board members, industry practitioners and external subject‑matter experts to ground recommendations in operational experience and emerging best practices
In 2026, the Utilities Advisory Board is working on projects pertaining to:
- Insider threat in utilities
- Zero-trust risks and solutions
- Trend and risk outlooks
- Post-quantum computing
- Counter-UAS for critical infrastructure
- AI in utilities
