Scope and Benefits

This standard defines common parameters and measures associated with on-premises RF equipment used in electronic security systems.

This standard has been compiled to establish a basis for further definition of measurement techniques for use in providing product specifications that are consistent between product suppliers. The purpose of this standard is to enable accurate comparison of RF products to one another and to enable accurate determination of a product’s suitability in a given application.

This standard is intended for use by equipment suppliers in citing performance parameters in their product literature, and by security system designers and installers in using those performance parameters to assess a product’s applicability for an intended use.
