SIA Thanks Ray O’Hara as 2015 SIA Insightful Practitioner

SIA will present Mr. O’Hara with the SIA Insightful Practitioners Award during the SIA Honors Night event at The Current at Chelsea Piers in New York, N.Y., on Wednesday, Nov. 18.

SILVER SPRING, Md. — The Security Industry Association (SIA) today announced Ray O’Hara CPP, Executive Vice President, International Services and Consulting and Investigations, AS Solution, as recipient of its 2015 SIA Insightful Practitioner Award.

The SIA Insightful Practitioner Award is presented to a security practitioner who demonstrates leadership and excellence in promoting the implementation of innovative security solutions through education, advocacy and teamwork with the industry and other stakeholders.

“The security industry benefits from the wisdom and guidance of Ray O’Hara, and Security Industry Association members are beneficiaries of his leadership,” said SIA Chairman V. John Stroia. “Ray was instrumental in preparing offerings for security practitioners in our upcoming Securing New Ground® executive conference. Securing New Ground® aside, Ray often has worked diligently to bring suppliers and practitioners together to identify innovative solutions to common challenges.”

Going forward, we all have to face the technological challenges together,” said Mr. O’Hara. “There are gaps that need to be closed that lead all of us to a unified approach to protecting our most valuable assets and people globally. SIA will present Mr. O’Hara with the SIA Insightful Practitioners Award during the SIA Honors Night event at The Current at Chelsea Piers in New York, N.Y., on Wednesday, Nov. 18. The event starts at 6.30 p.m.

Mr. O’Hara has more than 30 years of experience in consulting and investigations services, corporate security and law enforcement—including managing large-scale security consulting and investigations projects in emerging markets and developing international executive protection, crisis management, and response plans. Mr. O’Hara also is a co-founder of the Global Security Risk Management Alliance, an organization working toward the development of a next-generation security model that recognizes the blurring distinctions between traditional and logical security.

Mr. O’Hara has served as Chairman of the Board and President of the ASIS International Board of Directors, and he has served as President of ASIS’ Professional Certification Board and Chair of the ASIS International Investigations Council.
