Awards Presented to Outstanding Leaders at SIA Annual Meeting

Members recognized for their service to SIA and to the security Industry

SILVER SPRING, MD — Jay Hauhn, Chairman of the Security Industry Association (SIA) Board of Directors, named the recipients of awards for service during the association’s annual membership meeting, which was held December 4 at SIA’s headquarters in Silver Spring, MD.

They are:

  • Frank Gastonyi, President of Mercury Security Corporation, received the 2012 Standards Service Award for his contributions to SIA Standards initiatives;
  • Robert McKee, President of Paxton Access, who received the Committee Chair of the Year Award for his work as Chair of the SIA Marketing Committee; and
  • Scott Schafer, Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Service at Arecont Vision, who received the Volunteer of the Year Award.

In addition, Hauhn announced that the winners of the 2012 Chairman’s Award are outgoing Treasurer Jim Gingo, President of TransTech Systems, and Bill Taylor, outgoing Chair of the Securing New Ground Planning Committee.

“SIA is proud to recognize the work of each of our outstanding volunteers,” said Don Erickson, SIA’s Chief Executive Officer. “It is the contributions of our members that make SIA a vital and responsive resource for the security industry.”

Because SIA’s annual membership meeting – The Advance – was conducted via teleconference this year after being postponed as a result of Hurricane Sandy, the physical awards will be presented to recipients at the spring meeting of the SIA Board of Directors, which will be held in conjunction with ISC West in Las Vegas, NV in April of 2013.
