On Jan. 23, the Foundation for Advancing Security Talent (FAST) is proud to present an opportunity for the industry to show our gratitude and celebrate the hard work and dedication of security technicians. • Just released: The 2024 Security Megatrends report is here! Leveraging insights from independent research, surveys, focus groups and top sessions at SNG, Security Megatrends presents a forecast for the security industry’s future and breaks down the top trends that will impact you and your organization in the coming year. • Confidence in the security industry is high, according to the latest SIA research, with SIA’s November/December 2023 Security Market Index finding that over 85% of respondents having a positive view of the industry’s current condition. Access the report here.
• ICYMI: New publications are available to help you and your company succeed in 2024! SIA has created a series of new and updated government relations and advocacy guides for SIA members: the new Guide to U.S. Biometric Privacy Laws and Guide to State & Local Laws on Facial Recognition Technology and new editions of the Federal Grants Guide, Guide to Cannabis Security Requirements and Guide to School Security Funding.

• Nominations are open for the 2024 SIA Women in Security Forum (WISF) Power 100! Each year, the SIA WISF Power 100 program showcases 100 women who are role models, leaders, innovators and influencers in the global security industry. Nominate someone to be recognized in the 2024 class of honorees by Jan. 31!
• SIA is launching a new community in 2024 2024 focused on the issues and concerns of veterans and active military members who are in – or are interested in joining – the security industry. Watch a video from SIA’s Ron Hawkins introducing the community and sign up to get involved here.

• The SIA Integration Insights video series has returned! Check out the latest videos from Vector Firm Founder and President Chris Peterson, which share how security industry integrators can best prepare for and start a sales call and how to gain an understanding of what mode your customers are in so you can best engage in conversation with them.

• In December 2023, European Union (EU) lawmakers announced an agreement to finalize Europe’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) Act, which will make the EU the first to enact sweeping regulation of AI systems. In this blog, SIA’s Jake Parker shares what the new law means for the security industry.

• Nominations are open for the SIA Board of Directors! SIA’s Nominations Committee welcomes employees of SIA regular member companies in good standing to apply or submit nominations. Nominations are due Jan. 31; learn more and get started here.
• New video from the Security Industry Association (SIA) Proptech Advisory Board! In this video message, SIA Proptech Advisory Board Chair Lee Odess shares an update on the group’s activities and accomplishments and what to look forward to in 2024.

• SIA has named Renee Thompson – director of global sustainability and environmental compliance at Wesco International – as the first-ever chair of SIA’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Advisory Board. Learn more about Thompson, the ESG Advisory Board and how to get involved here.
• SIA is seeking informative, engaging content for its annual public policy and government security conference, taking place May 21-22 in Washington, D.C. Proposals are due Jan. 19; learn more and get started here.

• In a new blog, SIA’s director of learning and development, Elli Reges, and committee leaders Chris Peckham and Rob Hile share highlights from key accomplishments, initiatives and offerings in 2023 and forecast what’s coming in 2024.
• The latest SIA Technology Insights journal is here! SIA Technology Insights distills the most current thinking for applying today’s security technologies, and this issue features articles from experts on topics ranging from how intelligent security operations supports risk management to new cybersecurity standards, mobile access and the future of smart building security.
